Maha Shivaratri is one of the most significant festivals dedicated to Lord Shiva.

This is the only festival which has the prefix MAHA. Lord Shiva is the only God who is named as MAHA Devaa. And it is a well known fact, that, to overcome the most powerful lord of death ,( untimely, especially)  the only mantra, that acts as Raksha is the MAHA Mrutyungya Mantra, the mantra , chanted to appease ,  Mahadevaa.

The day has many interesting Mythological stories behind it. According to most of the legends, the day of Maha Shivaratri is associated with Lord Shiva and many cosmic events related to Him took place on the very same day.

When is it celebrated?
There is a Shivaratri in every luni-solar month of the Hindu calendar, on the month's 13th night /14th day, but once a year in late winter (February/March) and before the arrival of spring, marks Maha Shivaratri which means "the Great Night of Shiva".

Maha Shivaratri Origin & Significance
Few of the popular beliefs that exist , behind observing Maha Shivaratri are -

  • It is believed that during the creation of the universe, Lord Shiva was incarnated as Lord Rudra during the midnight of Maha Shivaratri with the grace of Lord Brahma.
  • It is believed that Lord Shiva got married to Goddess Parvati on the very same day. The festival is observed as the convergence of Shiva and Shakti. Hence, for many Shiva devotees, Shivaratri is observed as the marriage anniversary of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
  • As per Hinduism, the creation and the destruction of the universe is a cyclic process. When the time comes, Lord Shiva destroys the whole creation with the fire of His third eye while performing the cosmic dance known as Tandava.Hence, Maha Shivaratri marks the anniversary of cosmic dance performed by Lord Shiva. It is believed that during the churning of the great ocean the poison also came out of the sea along with the Amruth. It had the power to destroy the whole creation. Lord Shiva drank the poison and saved the whole world from destruction. Hence, Maha Shivaratri is observed as the thanksgiving to Lord Shiva.
  • The day of Maha Shivaratri is considered the most favorite day of Lord Shiva. Hence devotees worship Lord Shiva and observe a day and night long fast to please and to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva on His favorite day.
Maha Shivaratri Deity(s)

Lord Shiva is the main deity of Maha Shivaratri. Lord Shiva in the form of Lingam is worshipped on the auspicious day of Maha Shivaratri.
You may say that, Maha Shivaratri is the day of ‘austerity’ rather being the day of joy and merriment. Maha Shivaratri is observed for a single day and night.

Maha Shivaratri Observance

  • The day and night long fasting
  • Worshipping Shiva Lingam
  • Abhishekam i.e. bathing the Shiva Lingam with water, milk and honey

Rangoli /Kolam for Maha ShivaRatri:-

  • As a practicing Palmist / Numerologist , i find, whenever a person's passive palm has Dosha / defects due to deeds done in the yester years or previous jenma, success for that person can never be easy. It would always be a challenging path. For such persons, observing poojas and fasts on this most auspicious day, would significantly , dilute the misdeeds and bring in amazing good luck . Om NamahShivaayah !

Here i have tried to register information collected from various websites, books and my own experience.

A common thing i have found in people with Simian are , they are different in some way, from the remaining crowd, though, you may not be able to spot it during your first meeting.

First, try to identify, if the supposed line under discussion is present in the place of Heart line, Head line or in between. Because, if present in the heart line s position, it takes more of Heart lines characteristics. If in the place of Head line it takes more of Head lines characteristic.If  in between it has strong simian characteristics.

Secondly, the line itself, may be fully Simian or partially Simian. Fully, meaning, a straight line running across the palm with little or no Heart line as in fig3. In fig1 &2 they are partially simian, with the Heartline appearing to merge with the headline below it.

Not every feature mentioned below, holds good for every one having the Simian line, but it shall mostly match.

They completely adapt, to a dramatically different sorroundings.
Good mathematical ability and music ability.
At times overly emotional and at other times devoid of any sympathy.
Intense and very dedicated to a purpose.
Little suspicious.
Sensitive and easily hurt.

If present only in passive palm; Sheltered or alienated childhood
If present only in active palm; Physical desires  sometimes, go out of control; needs a partner with same drive.
If present in both palms; they feel lot of tension & internal pressure as everything is experienced in a acute way; which can give way to unreasonable outbursts and violent temper.

It is found on hands of those who had to overcome lot of hardships, a difficult start in life or troubled periods in middle life. They might have had life situations, where the emotion had become one with intellect, so that the mind and the heart had to work in unison, to overcome the tests and challenges, Life gave them.

A mark of survivor.

 Ratha Saptami (Sanskrit: रथसप्तमी or Magha Saptami) is a Hindu festival that falls on the seventh day (Saptami) in the bright half (Shukla Paksha) of the Hindu month Maagha. It is symbolically represented in the form of the Sun God Surya turning his Ratha (Chariot) drawn by seven horses (representing seven colours) towards the northern hemisphere, in a north-easterly direction. It also marks the birth of Surya and hence celebrated as Surya Jayanti (the Sun-god’s birthday).
Ratha Saptami is symbolic of the change of season to spring and the start of the harvesting season. For most Indian farmers, it is an auspicious beginning of the New Year. The festival is observed by all Hindus in their houses and in innumerable temples dedicated to Surya, across India.

Religious significance:-

Ratha Saptami is symbolically represented in the form of the Sun God Surya turning his Ratha (Chariot) drawn by seven horses, with Arua as the charioteer, towards the northern hemisphere, in a north-easterly direction. The symbolic significance of the ratha and the seven horses reigned to it is that , it represents the seven colours of the rainbow. The seven horses are also said to represent the seven days of a week starting with Sunday, the day of Sun god Surya. The chariot has 12 wheels, which represents the 12 signs (each of 30 degrees) of the Zodiac (360 degrees) and constituting a full year, named Samvatsara. The Sun’s own house is Leo (Simha) and he moves from one house to the next every month and the total cycle takes 365 days to complete. The Ratha Saptami festival seeks the benevolent cosmic spread of energy and light from the Sun God. Ratha Saptami also marks the gradual increase in temperature across South India and awaits the arrival of spring, which is later heralded by the festival of Ugadi or the Hindu lunar New Year day in the month of Chaitra.

What is the purpose of observing Ratha Saptami?
The scriptures proclaim that the word “ratha” is symbolic of the mind. The mind is the chariot. Innumerable thoughts arise in the mind. These thoughts are like different horses, which pull the mind in many different directions. To enable the mind to progress toward the divine, the right set of horses should pull it in the right direction. This, indeed, is the spiritual insight and the deeper meaning of Ratha Saptami.

These seven horses represents:-

1 The vital airs that dwell in the face.
2 The five senses of perception, plus the mind and the intellect.
3 The seven points of entry to the body are on -- the two eyes, the two ears, the two nostrils    and the mouth .These allow the seven adhyātma-prānās to nourish the soul. This pertains    to the celestial plane.
4 The other five fundamental elements -- earth, water, fire, air and space -- together with the    two principles called mahat and ahamkāra, are the seven-adhibhautika prānās, which            constitute the vital airs belonging to the physical plane.
5 The seven Chandas or metre used in composition of hymns, including Vedas, as Gayatri,      Brhati, Usnika, Jagati, Tristup, Anustup and Pankti.

6 The seven days of a week starting with Sunday, the day of Sun god Surya

Your destiny is in your Signature !

In Tamil Language there is a saying " கையெழுத்தில் தான் தலை எழுத்தே இருக்கிறது !"
Loosely translated in English --- It means " Your destiny is in your Signature.

Kaiyezhuthu --- has two meanings --- one--- a persons Handwriting ; two ---- a persons Signature;

I feel our ancestors would have meant the second one. Without understanding that, many say---- you should have a beautiful handwriting to have a prosperous future.

I differ in this.

We should take the inner , deeper meaning---- that is ---Your Signature has your destiny coded in it.

The following points have considerable influence upon your Fate--->

 a) The alphabets ,your Signature has.
 b) The compound number it gives.
 c) The single number it gives + its compatability with your Date of Birth ; You may wonder , that " i have the most luckiest numbers 23 or say 46--- but nothing seems to work for me! " So , i stress here , the harmony is very important.
d) The last, but this also should not be ignored , Pronology--- that is --- the Signature should not have negative vibrations in it Ex: NO, WAR, SU(e), AK (ache) SK (sick).

It is better, your name also, do not have such negative vibrations. But, since you do NOT have any say over that matter--- not all parents, are well versed in Numerology or know a good Numerologist to keep names at the time of Birth, atleast, you can have a positive Signature , which has considerable influence upon your Destiny.

Also--- you may know --- "Vaitheeswaran koil " (temple) , which is very famous for its Nadi system, use your Thumb print , to take out the Centuries old ---Palm leaves , which has your entire Destiny, written. And even now, many people use their Thumb impression  (which has one's destiny engraved in it)  as their Signature.

So--- the main point , i want to emphasize by this post is , coin your Signature to a Lucky one--- which spirals your Life forward rather than, hapazhardly putting one, without realising, it is YOUR DESTINY you are engraving !

A Mudra (Sanskrit मुद्रा, "seal", "mark", or "gesture") is a symbolic or ritual gesture in Hinduism and Buddhism.While some mudras involve the entire body, most are performed with the hands and fingers.A mudrā is a spiritual gesture and an energetic seal of authenticity employed in the iconography and spiritual practice of Indian religions.

One hundred and eight mudras are used in regular Tantric rituals.

In yoga, mudras are used in conjunction with pranayama (yogic breathing exercises), generally while seated in Padmasana, Sukhasana or Vajrasana pose, to stimulate different parts of the body involved with breathing and to affect the flow of prana in the body.

Mudras & the Panch Bhoota:

The physical body is made up of five elements namely – Air, Water, Fire, Earth and Aakash (ether – the tiny intercellular spaces in the human body).
Imbalance of these elements disrupts the immunity system and is the root cause of all human disease(s).

Deficiency in any of these elements can be corrected, through Mudras.
When a finger representing an element is brought into contact with the thumb, that element is brought into balance. Therefore the disease caused by the imbalance is cured. Mudras invoke electromagnetic currents within the body which balance various constituting elements and restore health. The joining of fingers, brings forth a subtle, yet positive  effect upon the human body.

Ancient sages have designated the five fingers for these five elements viz.,

* Thumb      Fire
* Index        Air
* Middle      Aakash
* Ring         Earth
* Little        Water

There is a direct relationship between the hands and the neck since the nerve paths run through the vertebral form in the arms, hands, and fingers. The flexibility of the hands always has an effect on the flexibility of the neck. Therefore, hand exercises relieve tensions in the neck. Moreover, spreading the ten fingers creates a reflex that causes the chest vertebrae to spread out.

The hands and fingers also have an additional direct relationship to the heart and lungs. You would have observed many people can no longer properly stretch their fingers as they get older. This shows tension in the heart area, which often is an indication of some , heart disease or a tendency toward osteoporosis. This slightly crooked hand position also impedes inhalation. The result is that the optimum amount of air is not drawn into the lungs, especially into the lung borders, which promotes contamination in those areas.

In the picture below, you can find the palm of a person who suffered from Heart attack. His palm was perfectly normal before the attack. Unfortunately, i do not have the picture taken before the attack. He is a real survivor of multiple attacks. He is a very sincere person following healthy diets. I would say, besides the allopathy medicines which is absolutely mandatory for him, his sincere following of Mudras ( some he is ofcourse unable to keep, due to his hand disability) , acupressure and his wonderful Name Number 51/6 which is acting as a Sanjeevani for him. Also, dont miss out , to observe his long Life line , all the way supported by the energetic Mars Line and the clear Fate line, running well above the Heart line.

Reflex Zones

The hand reflex zones correspond to the foot reflex zones, the massage treatment of which is generally known today. Since some of the organs are only found on one side of the body such as the heart and liver, this is reflected in the hands. Since hands come in different sizes, you may not find the exact pressure point immediately. When you have found the desired point, massage it with your thumb, using light pressure and slow, circular movements. One to 3 minutes are enough.

Mudras are sacred ritual gestures or hand positions. When used in religious dance they become an elaborate hand language. The Sanskrit word Mudra means seal. In the most ancient times mudra was used with mantra and sealed the pattern of energy. The earliest mudra was the Sanskrit symbol. From this primordial system of mudra grew a secret language that became as diverse as the country it was practiced in. Mudra is likewise used for the purpose of prayer.

Mudras create an energy field and can be used in healing. The ultimate goal of mudra is a higher state of consciousness.
