Chirognomy is the interpretation of the physical make up of ----your Palm , the fingers, the mounts present on the front side of your palm (below the fingers), the nails, its shape and colour, flexibility of your palm and fingers.

A doctor diagnoses the disease first by observation. If the tongue is thickly coated , there is a possibility of indigestion , constipation or any other problem related to our stomach. The yellowness of the normally white eyes is an indication of Jaundice. He  checks your eye ( the bottom portion) and front side of your palm , to check for iron deficiency.

A Palmist gets an idea, of basic instincts of a person, by observing his fingers and the structure of the Palm. The basic instincts are one 's biological needs like thirst, hunger, sex and other reactions like anger, fear , jealousy etc.,
Besides, it is possible to find the general health defects of a person through proper study of Chirognomy .

For example, the colour of the palm depicts one' s level of energy and vitality. Shape and development of one' s Thumb reveals , development of one' s intelligence level , brain development and his adjusting capability with his fellow beings.

Fingers, nails and mounts( the bulge or pits below fingers) certainly throw lot of light on one' s health defects.

Abnormal development or any deformity of Index finger shows excessive pride/defident character and diseases of respiratory system, spleen and gall bladder.

Deformed Index finger

Abnormal development or a bend in Middle finger shows excessive gloom, "i am only correct" attitude, melancholy , mental imbalance and diseases of abdomen conditions particularly of Liver. They lack mental peace.

Abnormal development or deformity of Ring finger shows excessive risk taking nature and hints about the problems related to kidney. Any thinness denotes problems in filtration system.

Abnormal development or any deformity of the Little finger ,shows a person who is excessively calculative, manipulative and  gives us a hint , towards problems of the sex glands.
Excessively long first phalanges indicate psychological disorders and schizophrenic conditions of the mind. The thinness of the middle phalange denote susceptibility to consumption.
These are few things, among many physical/mental /psychological problems which can be diagnosed by proper observation of the Palm as a whole , well in advance.

If remedial measures are taken, well before, we can avoid , problems much in advance.

“ There is no chance, no destiny, no fate

Can circumvent or hinder , or control

The firm resolve of a determined soul.

Gifts count for nothing; will alone is great;

All things give way before it soon or late.

What obstacle can stay the mighty force

Of the sea-seeking river in its course,

Or cause the ascending orb of day to wait?

Each well born soul MUST WIN what it deserves.

Let the fool prate of luck. The fortunate

Is he whose earnest purpose never swerves,

Whose slightest action or inaction serves

   The one great aim.

Why, even Death stands still

And waits an hour sometimes for such will.”

Wearing rings on particular fingers also carries certain meanings, relevant to that particular finger it is worn upon. Observe the digit upon which the ring is worn . Subconsciously the person would have needed an extra boost or reinforcement to the area indicated, by characteristics THAT finger , on which the ring is worn upon.
A ring on the Index finger denotes self obsession, a need for domination or sometimes an inferiority complex.
A ring on the Middle finger – need for stability and order, need for sense of values or concerned with family , money or material things .
A ring on the Ring finger – indicates success in love matters, it may also indicate that a person is more bothered with image and  opinion of others.
A ring on the Little finger—is more commonly worn by sexually curious people ; and also by people who are interested in communication e.g., writers, public speakers, politicians .
A ring on the Thumb – shows a desire for greater Will power, inner strength and energy to cope.
Sometimes you may have observed people to be wearing lots of rings in all fingers, in both hands. It indicates an insecure and troubled personality. Common during adolescent ages when they are disturbed  and on people who feel alienated in some way.....

In approximately 1 person in 20, the palms are disproportionately large or small. Their palms appear oddly over size or tiny for the person’s body size.
As a rough guide, the length of the face and the length of the whole palm ( including fingers) should be about the same size. The base of the palm at the wrist, kept in line with the chin, the finger tip should  almost reach near or just above the eyebrows.
If they are well short of this distance – you may label it as a SHORT palm.
If they reach well beyond the hair line – you may call it a LONG palm.
Disproportionately small palms are fond on intense , impatient people. They tend to be a touch manic;  Ofcourse , they are good in a crisis situation , where fast reactions are necessary,  and no time for details. Encourage Yoga and relaxation techniques to such people.
Disproportionately large palms are found on people who are slow, tenacious, detail seeking and meticulous. They cant react quickly and get tense, if they are hurried. Generally found on Jewellers, picture restorers, dentists and those works, which generally require patience , detail and precision.
General rule:  Small people have small hands. Large people have large hands. The thing we are speaking here is PALMS which don’t match the body size.

We will go from physical make up of the palm namely - finger shapes and mount configuration and then later towards the lines , to understand this point.

We have already seen about the nature of a long fingered person. He is bound to be slow, cautious and calculative in his reaction. Usually when a person in trouble needs help, and asks you and when your reaction is not spontaneous, but , calculative , that is --- when you start thinking, whether helping this person, would be useful for yourself, in the long run, it is not really generous. Is it?

Long and thin, bony fingers accentuates this point.
Critical nails adds flavour to it.

When you observe the mounts,  if the generous mounts Venus and Sun are deficient but the Mount of Moon is over developed, (fig.1) the person tends to be self centred. { Reason:-  Mount of Moon , Mount of Saturn are referred to as ‘ cold mounts’ ;  when they are normally developed ,

they are of normal disposition.  If they are over developed, it means , it is more cool ( cold natured) ; they are less emotional , unsympathetic and become selfish by nature).

Now  coming to the lines , we know the Heart Line is the indicator of human emotions, sympathy and generosity. If this line terminates below the Mount of Saturn, which is a cold mount, devoid of emotions, the person may not be bothered about others feelings , but may be self centred. Also we know the Saturn represents stinginess and miserliness. Need you ask , if the Heart Line ends under this mount, what would be his disposition ?

Another pointer is the quadrangle.  If it is even , that is the gap between the Heart Line and the Head Line is equidistant , then the person has balanced disposition. But if the gap is narrow, because of a dip in the Heart Line towards the Head Line , then it is another pointer for selfishness, for in such case, the emotions are ruled over by the rationality of the head.

Hope this article was helpful.

Are you systematic and orderly or just work whenever you want to , in whims and fancies ?
Do you keep your work place neat and organised or cluttered ?

We can get some insight about our work style and how orderly and systematic we are , in our general life routine , by observing the palm.
A finger which is long is capable of thinking and planning. In general they are patient, detail seeking and worried about the small things in life. If this long finger has  a knot (fig.1a) at the second phalange , the phalange – which represents orderliness in material things , such person will be very particular, about keeping things back in their original place and maintaining their sorroundings neat and tidy.

Conic tips over this long, knotty fingers softens their nature. However, if they possess Square tips, they are strict disciplinarians and hard task masters to work with.

                    fig 1a                                                   fig 1b ( long fingers+ knots + long nails)

Long fingers with knots along with long nails also,  makes a person nit picky, making a person , quick to criticize and find others faults.

Spatulate finger tips with knotty fingers , will make them realistic and give an interest in experimental sciences which is of practical use. They would be happy to create some new things, of mass utility.  They may also have talent in Civil or Mechanical engineering.

Smooth fingers (fig. 2) without knots, work by inspiration and intuition , than by reasoning and analysis, unlike the long fingered people.  They are quick to work and naturally , you cannot expect thoroughness or neatness in their work. Their home or work place may be cluttered.

                                                                                        fig. 2
Smooth finger , with square tips is a better combination , as-- their quickness operate with commonsense and practical ways.
Smooth finger with conic finger tips can succeed in occupations related to interior decoration, acting,  writing romantic stories, poems etc., They could be dreamy and with the Head Line towards the Mount of Moon , it may be aggravated.

Right Palm

Robin Williams
Picture courtesy , thanks to modernhandreading research forum

We shall analyse about the famous American Comedian Robin Williams life events as portrayed by his -- palms and his name details, using Pythogerean Numerology, soon. Stay tuned !

Prologue for this article is, from the book of THE HANDS OF CHILDREN by JULIUS SPIER.

Once more i repeat , that i do not claim for Chirology the title of an exact science, although i should like to point out , that neither medicine nor psychology are entitled to this claim. After all , medicine diagnoses internal illness from external psychological conditions and symptoms and,  as in chirology, intuition and speculation come in to play. Psychology, for instance , deals with the illness of the "soul " and bases its research on the phenomena and manifestations of the human soul, for the existence of which, there is no exact proof. Whereas medicine and psychology are universally accepted and permitted to commit errors without their usefulness and necessity being challenged, an infallibility is  demanded of the psycho-chirologist, which is never expected of the physician, psychiatrist or psychologist. The experienced chirologist does not neglect  the central problem of a case , for the sake of its characterological and psychological aspects. If, however, he happens to overlook a detail , which the critic deems essential, or worse, makes a mistake, this is often considered as sufficient evidence , to condemn chirology altogether. Modern scientific research is so specialised, that new facts and data are often unjustly dismissed or accepted because the verdict is based on an insufficient number of cases. After all ,scientific research , demands the observation and study of innumerable  cases before a fact or theory -- originally conceived by intuition --- is accepted as scientific knowledge. I frankly admit , that, I cannot offer a definite explanation of the origin of the lines of the hands; but can the anatomist explain why the heart is on the left and why the other organs are in their respective places? In the same way, as he looks upon the structure of the body as a given entity, I regard the lines of the hands. According to my own experience , I am inclined to maintain that the formation of the lines, is directly connected with the central and vegetative nervous systems. I find confirmation of this theory in the fact, that, after certain inner experiences of an emotional and effective nature, new lines often appear, whilst , others disappear.

I hate to argue. You may win a point, but almost always... you tend to loose the person.

Recently i had a visit to hospital due to my , yet another , unbearable Migraine attack episode.

It started around 5 30 am on a Saturday morning . No amount of tablet swallowing, Acupressure, Mudra therapy, Prayers , Head Massage, Soothing music ..... none.... absolutely none, could help. The pain, kept on increasing and i begged the docs to give me a shot, so that i become unconscious. It was so unbearable. It is not that , this is new for me. From age 6 i am having this intimate relationship with my Migraine and it is not prepared to leave me. Karma...

Now, coming to the point , of why i am elaborating, about this,” every month occuring episode”, is that - something the visiting Neuro Surgeon, told me. He started , with his regular routine of questioning with :: Qualification, Where do you work, what is your hobby, interest etc., ? When he came to know that, i had left my (monotonous)Engineering job for  practicing Palmistry and Numerology, he was not very enthusiastic.  I could see it from the twitch of a nerve on his face . As i had guessed, he said , I should leave it immediately , as soon as i am discharged ( did he really think, i will ??!!, change the doc , i will ) and do something worthwhile. The reason he gave was, it was not SCIENTIFIC . My God ! I really do not know, if anything has to be accepted , why , it HAS to be Scientific? I was on the verge of asking him , if he was a believer ( coz in India most of us are) , and if Yes, i had wanted to ask him, if God was proved to him Scientifically !

I think, i am not imagining, what all Doctors say, at the end of most crucial operations, “We have done our best, Rest in the Hands of God”. So where did your Science go? One cannot and NEED NOT prove everything as it were in a test tube .

There are tens of thousands of diseases , out of which , only a few hundreds have been found a cure, if i am not wrong. Leave all that, for the past forty odd years , i have visited enough hospitals for Migraine and all they say is you can only manage it, but you cannot cure!  The only thing, that has changed, is the name - from childhood headache -  to teenage cramps - and then headache due to

Image result for laughing emoji code

middle age and now, it is given the name menopause headache .

Coming back to what i was saying,  i have seen , number of my Palmistry friends, struggling to get approval, by arguing elaborately , that modern Palmistry is Scientific . My dearest friends , those who will NOT believe, will not believe, no matter what. So, do not waste your precious energy on them. If you love doing something, just do it.

Just DO it. Don’t wait for anyone’s approval.

But let us all sharpen our skills to the best of our abilities and give a ray of hope, for all, who come to us, in their time of pain and confusion.

Your precise prediction ~ is the answer  .
I hate to argue......

Aim of this article is to emphasize the following MOOL MANTRA.

Mool Mantra:  Before coming to a conclusion, regarding a query, always chant this!
Always , make interpretation about a palm,  as a whole, and do not come to a conclusion, by a single sign or feature. A negative symbol, perhaps, is modified, by a positive feature in some other place. Never come to a conclusion, on impulse.

Patience is a virtue, more so to a Palm reader!

Misconception 1: A short life line , implies, that you are going to die young.

Reality:  Many octogenarians*  have short Life Line , but still they continue to live past age 80.
Following is the palm of a lady who is in her mid seventies. Fig.1

Meaning: Life Line alone does not decide your longevity. A defective (short/ broken/islanded) Life Line probably  indicates a major change in your life OR some bothering painful domestic issues.

* a person who is between 80 and 89 years old.

Misconception 2: I don’t have a Fate line, so i can never be rich.

Reality:  Many crore-pathis have feeble  Fate lines or sometimes no Fate line at all.
Meaning: A defective or altogether missing Fate line ( Line of Saturn ) is an indicator of – the level of satisfaction and importance, a person gets in his/her life. A person may be quite rich, but still if he is not satisfied OR not given importance, it is reflected as such type of defects. . You can also say , the defective Fate Line , as -- the lack of capacity of a person, to attune his inner being , to the demands and conditions of his outside environment and his work.

Misconception 3: I have gap between these 2 lines. ( they refer the gap between the Head Line and the Life Line ), ‘I heard one of my friend say ‘ that  marriage life  will not be happy.

Refer picture depicting such formation . Fig 2

Reality:  Many couples who are happy -- also , have this type of line formation(s).

Meaning:  The gap between the Head Line and the Life Line is simply an indicator of an independent and a bold person. It is only when this gap is too wide AND the Head Line is also defective AND the fingers are short / conic ----- the person is given to too much impulsiveness and unable to control their temper, thereby affecting their married life. Otherwise, seeing ONLY the gap between the Head Line and Life Line it is unwise and insensitive to say that your relationships are going to fail.
I have a close friend who has got quite some gap between the said lines. But the majority LOOP FINGERPRINTS on her fingers , and a long second phalange of her Thumb , gives her – an accomodative nature plus, a check for impulsiveness.

Misconception 4:  Right hand for men and Left hand for women.

Reality:  Read both palms with equal importance, before you arrive at a decision, be it male or female.

Misconception 5:  Lines do not change.

Reality:   It is the fingerprints, which never changes. Lines DO change either positively or negatively, depending upon your attitude ( positive or negative) , healthy routine( Yoga , Meditation , Mudras and similar habits) and eating habits( avoiding excess fatty , junk foods etc.,) . So to some extent, we are Slaves of our destiny and to some considerable extent  -- Masters of our destiny. Choice is in your hands !

Misconception 6:   Longer the Head Line , more intelligent he is.

Reality:  First of all, check if the long Head Line is without any defects. Even if the long Head Line is of fine quality , any thing of too much, is not good. We see many long Head Line people to be very stubborn and inflexible, which in turn primarily may affect his domestic life, for , he , may have the attitude, i am right, ALWAYS.

Misconception 7: Girdle of Venus is a very inauspicious marker, to have and is sign of too much sexuality. Refer fig.3

Reality: In actuality , sometimes, it compensates for the missing Heart Line . In most cases, it is a sign of acute sensitiveness. It relates to too much Sexulaity, only when Line of Mars is deep and red, the mounts of Aggressive Mars and Mount of Venus are much developed and the little finger – longer than usual. Detailed information can be found under the topic Girdle of Venus, which will soon be published.

Misconception 8:  A Palmist can tell even the minute details of your Life, say , for example – direction from which your partner will arrive, which country you will settle , the last fight you had with your sibling, the big red mole you may have in the middle of your abdomen etc etc.,

Reality: Sorry. Perhaps, a Psychic may be able to tell. Do not confuse such person with a Practical Palmist. A palmist will be able to narrate those incidents, which had profound impact on your Psyche, the good time and the bad time period(s). Altogether, there might be,  say,  7 to 8 incidents in your Life, which made strong impact upon you and changed the direction of your life. Only those periods would be etched in your palms. If each and every incident can be foretold, then , there will be no space on our palms!

But who are we to label , that -- the break we see, or for that matter, any conspicuous defects in the main lines as bad. Perhaps, they are the seeds, due to which your Mount of Jupiter  has developed such a beautiful Ring of Solomon !

Perhaps because of all the pain, you have gone through, you are able to really fathom, the agony , of others,  struggling through life. As a result of which you take a positive step and  join some Psychology/ Counselling course or some Alternative medicine course,  and that could be the meaning behind the small but clear vertical lines , which have started to develop on your Mount of Mercury ! The vertical lines over the Mount of Mercury , is also known as Healing Stigmata. People with such vertical lines upon Mount of Mercury , have a helpful nature and they like to try out new things . Researchers , be it any field ( not necessarily only Science & Math) have this marker. A friend of mine , Engineer turned in to a Master Chef , who has a thing, for always trying out different recipes, has this marker.

Misconception 9: A Palmist has a special ‘ gift’ and supernatural powers.

Reality: Sorry. We do not. Atleast i do not have. All we have ( SHOULD have) is love and compassion for our fellow human beings, a sincere yearning , to help them in some small way atleast, to show them à the Sign post , as revealed by the Palm – so that they are propelled forward -- towards their destination , with lesser bumps, God willing.

Holi is a Hindu spring festival in India, also known as the "festival of colours" or the "festival of love". The festival signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring, end of winter, and for many , a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair broken relationships, and is also celebrated as a thanksgiving for a good harvest.  It lasts for two days starting on the Purnima (Full Moon day) falling in the Bikram Sambat Hindu Calendar month of Falgun, which falls somewhere between the end of February and the middle of March in the Gregorian calendar. The first day is known as Holika Dahan (हॊलिका दहन) or Chhoti Holi and the second as Rangwali Holi, Dhuleti, Dhulandi or Dhulivandan.

Holi celebrations start on the night before Holi with a Holika bonfire where people gather, do religious rituals in front of the bonfire, and pray that their internal evil should be destroyed as the bonfire starts. The next morning is celebrated as Rangwali Holi, carnival of colours, where participants play, chase and colour each other, with dry powder and coloured water, children carrying water guns and coloured water-filled balloons for their water fight. Anyone and everyone is fair game, friend or stranger, rich or poor, man or woman, children and elders. The frolic and fight with colours occurs in the open streets, open parks, outside temples and buildings. Groups carry drums and other musical instruments, go from place to place, sing and dance. People visit family, friends and foes to throw coloured powders on each other, laugh and gossip, then share Holi delicacies, food and drinks. Some customary drinks such as those that include bhang are intoxicating. In the evening, after sobering up, people dress up and visit friends and family.

Vishnu legend

There is a symbolic legend to explain why Holi is celebrated as a festival of colours in the honor of Hindu god Vishnu and his follower Prahlada. King Hiranyakashipu, according to a legend found in chapter 7 of Bhagavata Purana, was the king of demonic Asuras, and had earned a boon that gave him five special powers: : he could be killed by neither a human being nor an animal, neither indoors nor outdoors, neither at day nor at night, neither by astra (projectile weapons) nor by any shastra (handheld weapons), and neither on land nor in water or air. Hiranyakashipu grew arrogant, thought he was God, and demanded that everyone worship only him.

Hiranyakashipu's own son, Prahlada, however, disagreed. He staunchly remained devoted, only to Vishnu. This infuriated Hiranyakashipu. He subjected Prahlada to cruel punishments, none of which affected the boy’s bhakthi towards lord Vishnu. Finally, Holika, Prahlada's evil aunt, tricked him into sitting on a pyre with her. Holika was wearing a cloak that made her immune to injury from fire, while Prahlada was not. As the fire roared, the cloak flew from Holika and encased Prahlada, who survived while Holika burned. Vishnu, the god who appears as an avatar to restore Dharma in Hindu beliefs, took the form of Narasimha - half human and half lion, at dusk (when it was neither day nor night), took Hiranyakashyapu at a doorstep (which was neither indoors nor outdoors), placed him on his lap (which was neither land, water nor air), and then eviscerated and killed the king with his lion claws (which were neither a handheld weapon nor a launched weapon).

The Holika bonfire and Holi signifies the celebration of the symbolic victory of good over evil, of Prahlada over Hiranyakashipu, and of the fire that burned Holika.

Krishna legend

In the Braj region of India, where the Hindu deity Krishna grew up, the festival is celebrated as Rangpanchmi in commemoration of the divine love of Radha for Krishna. The festivities officially usher in spring, with Holi celebrated as a festival of love. There is a symbolic myth behind worshipping Krishna as well. As a baby, Krishna developed his characteristic dark blue skin colour because the she-demon Putana poisoned him with her breast milk. In his youth, Krishna despaired, whether the fair-skinned Radha and other girls would like him because of his skin colour. His mother, tired of the desperation, asks him to approach Radha and colour her face in any colour he wanted. This he does, and Radha and Krishna became a couple. Ever since, the playful colouring of Radha's face has been marked as Holi.
There are many more stories and legends associated with this colourful festival Holi -depending upon the various , region and culture followed among people- of different states of our country. Whatever it is , it is the festive day -- to end and rid oneself of past errors, to end conflicts by meeting others -- a day to forget and forgive.

The health aspect has been a topic of debate for a long time, as the market is flooded with synthetic colours adulterated with oxidised metals and industrial dyes mixed with anything from engine oil to mercury sulphate to lead oxide or copper sulphate — all harmful chemicals that can cause skin allergies and eye infections. So this Holi, let us save the environment as well our health by using natural colours.

For example:

Mix two teaspoons of Turmeric powder (haldi) with double the quantity of gram flour (besan). Turmeric and gram flour have magical qualities that are very good for the skin.
Save a trip to the parlour by using green coloured henna powder (mehendi) this Holi. Either use it separately or mix it with an equal quantity of any suitable flour to get a lovely and natural green shade.
Soak a few stalks of Saffron (kesar) in 2 table spoons of water. Leave for a few hours and grind them to make a fine paste. Dilute that with water as per the desired colour strength.
Slice or grate one beetroot and soak it in 1 litre of water for a wonderful magenta. Boil or leave overnight for a deeper shade and dilute it before use.
Red Sandal Wood Powder, which has a beautiful red colour, is extremely beneficial for the skin and can be used in place of Red Gulal. You can also try dry red hibiscus flowers in shade, powder and add any flour to increase the bulk.

Use your own imagination for many more vibrant natural organic colours !

And finally, is any Indian festival complete without a colourful Rangoli at our door entrance?!

Maha Shivaratri is one of the most significant festivals dedicated to Lord Shiva.

This is the only festival which has the prefix MAHA. Lord Shiva is the only God who is named as MAHA Devaa. And it is a well known fact, that, to overcome the most powerful lord of death ,( untimely, especially)  the only mantra, that acts as Raksha is the MAHA Mrutyungya Mantra, the mantra , chanted to appease ,  Mahadevaa.

The day has many interesting Mythological stories behind it. According to most of the legends, the day of Maha Shivaratri is associated with Lord Shiva and many cosmic events related to Him took place on the very same day.

When is it celebrated?
There is a Shivaratri in every luni-solar month of the Hindu calendar, on the month's 13th night /14th day, but once a year in late winter (February/March) and before the arrival of spring, marks Maha Shivaratri which means "the Great Night of Shiva".

Maha Shivaratri Origin & Significance
Few of the popular beliefs that exist , behind observing Maha Shivaratri are -

  • It is believed that during the creation of the universe, Lord Shiva was incarnated as Lord Rudra during the midnight of Maha Shivaratri with the grace of Lord Brahma.
  • It is believed that Lord Shiva got married to Goddess Parvati on the very same day. The festival is observed as the convergence of Shiva and Shakti. Hence, for many Shiva devotees, Shivaratri is observed as the marriage anniversary of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
  • As per Hinduism, the creation and the destruction of the universe is a cyclic process. When the time comes, Lord Shiva destroys the whole creation with the fire of His third eye while performing the cosmic dance known as Tandava.Hence, Maha Shivaratri marks the anniversary of cosmic dance performed by Lord Shiva. It is believed that during the churning of the great ocean the poison also came out of the sea along with the Amruth. It had the power to destroy the whole creation. Lord Shiva drank the poison and saved the whole world from destruction. Hence, Maha Shivaratri is observed as the thanksgiving to Lord Shiva.
  • The day of Maha Shivaratri is considered the most favorite day of Lord Shiva. Hence devotees worship Lord Shiva and observe a day and night long fast to please and to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva on His favorite day.
Maha Shivaratri Deity(s)

Lord Shiva is the main deity of Maha Shivaratri. Lord Shiva in the form of Lingam is worshipped on the auspicious day of Maha Shivaratri.
You may say that, Maha Shivaratri is the day of ‘austerity’ rather being the day of joy and merriment. Maha Shivaratri is observed for a single day and night.

Maha Shivaratri Observance

  • The day and night long fasting
  • Worshipping Shiva Lingam
  • Abhishekam i.e. bathing the Shiva Lingam with water, milk and honey
  • Offering Bel Patra i.e. wood-apple leaves ( Vilva ilai)  to Shiva Lingam.
  • Offering white flowers to Shiva Lingam
  • Night long vigil while chanting Shiva Mantra and Stotram
Maha Shivaratri Dishes

  • Bhang and Thandai
  • In south, devotees who cannot do a full fasting, can cook Sakkaravelli kizhangu ( sweet potato) and mix it with sugar and eat once during the day.
Rangoli /Kolam for Maha ShivaRatri:-

  • As a practicing Palmist / Numerologist , i find, whenever a person's passive palm has Dosha / defects due to deeds done in the yester years or previous jenma, success for that person can never be easy. It would always be a challenging path. For such persons, observing poojas and fasts on this most auspicious day, would significantly , dilute the misdeeds and bring in amazing good luck . Om NamahShivaayah !
